Select a family and within the species list names highlighted in red have a photograph(s) attached. In general the successfully photographed birds on any trip represent only 20-80% of all the species seen, depending on the environment and focus of the trip.
Following each species is an abbreviation giving the general breeding area of the bird as follows:
NA – North America, MA – Middle America, SA – South America, AF – Africa, EU – Eurasia, OR – Oriental Region, AU – Australasia, AO, PO, IO, TrO, TO, NO, SO – Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Tropical, Temperate, Northern & Southern Oceans, AN – Antarctica, So. Cone – Argentina & Chile south of the Tropic of Capricorn.
