Family Columbidae – Pigeons & Doves
These are stout-bodied birds with short necks and short slender bills. They primarily feed on seeds, fruits and plants. The family occurs worldwide, but the greatest diversity is in Indomalaya and Australasia. The family includes about 42 genera and 310 species.
