WILD FLOWERS OF THE MANI
LATEST NEWS – Second edition of Wild Flowers of the Mani published October 2019 ISBN 978-1-9161839-0-2. The new edition retains the original format but has been expanded to cover descriptions of more than 1000 plants from the Mani and includes a Foreword by Dr Kit Tan.
This volume is a comprehensive guide to the wild flowers of the Mani Peninsula in the Southern Peloponnese. It contains photographs and descriptions of more than 930 flowering plants, trees and ferns all of which can be found in the Mani. By eliminating any plants not occurring in the region the process of identification is simplified since there are more than 5,800 plant taxa in the whole of Greece. Each plant is illustrated with at least one photograph which is accompanied by a brief description. Botanical terms are used as necessary but there is a glossary of terms and diagrams to explain the meaning. The text also contains a key to identifying the main plant families, photographs of the different habitats in the Mani and information about the climate, vegetation and geography of the area. A bibliography of useful books and information on on-line resources are also included.
